Project Coordinator

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Project Coordinator will be working in a multidisciplinary team on a protection project with AJEM and its partners to support the Syrian refugees living in informal tented sites and collective shelters in Bekaa as well as beneficiaries of Lebanese or other origins.

Tasks:

  • Supervise and manage the project
  • Announce the project objectives, results expected and deadlines
  • Develop an action plan and management system in collaboration and under supervision of the programs manager.
  • Manage and follow up the general log frame of the project
  • Design small trainings and awareness sessions to communities and focal points.
  • Supervise all activities about providing legal aid, legal counselling and legal representation for criminal law cases
  • Organize and control awareness activities with the municipalities, information dissemination sessions on technical topics and trainings on key topics…
  • Draft a monthly report on all activities.
  • Take the necessary decisions in collaboration and under the supervision of the programs  manager according to the different project priorities
  • Inform management of any problems or issues immediately and regularly make suggestions on how to improve efficiency and service;
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with AJEM staff members
  • Coordinate with other partners for updated information and for activity follow up (meetings, common visits…)
  •  Hosting events in AJEM location in Bekaa
  •  Completing administrative tasks, including office logistics, answering emails, etc.

 

 

Skills:

– Previous experience with NGOs or other agencies in the sector of protection as a coordinator or project manager

– Good written and oral communication skills in Arabic, French and English.

– Proficiency in all Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint…) and internet resources

-Ability to work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team and coordinate between different parties involved in the activity.

– Belief in human rights and knowledge about civil society

Information Manager

The work consists of:

– sorting the documents that had already existed for 18 years.

– After sorting, you have to group the information, give it a rating, and place it by topic.

Social Worker

JOB DESCRIPTION

The social worker will work in law court detention centers in Lebanon  to take in the prisoners upon their entry in prison and gather information on allegation of torture or inhuman treatments the prisoner suffered since their arrest. He or she will take care of the social help needed by the prisoner, and will help him develop a rehabilitation project in collaboration with AJEM’s multidisciplinary team. He or she will also collaborate on this project with the team of our NGO partners. Sometimes the assistance and the help of the social worker will expand to cover the persons outside the prisons depending on the Project within AJEM mission.

Psychotherapist

Job Description:

An opportunity has arisen for a psychotherapist to join the AJEM multidisciplinary team in their work across Lebanese prisons. The core task of the post holder will be to offer psychotherapy, both group and individual, to people who present with severe and complex mental health problems. The applicant will be required to undertake psychotherapy assessments and make clear and decisive clinical judgements. The assessment process will be aimed to provide the basis of psychotherapeutic treatment, or may go towards supporting the thinking and care plans of colleagues and teams working directly with the individual in another services.

The psychotherapist will be asked to work in various detention centers and prisons in Lebanon, to take in the prisoners upon their entry in prison, accompany them and gather information on potential allegation of torture or inhuman treatments suffered since their arrest, and also help them develop a rehabilitation project aiming at social reinsertion.

We are working in the context of high demand and need, with limited resources. The capacity to constructively respond to these demands is key. We are looking for someone who has the capacity to engage resiliently with their work, can remain open and active in working towards changing cultures, challenging perceptions, promoting psychotherapy and developing service provision.

 

Main responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring systematic and coordinated provision of psychotherapy assessment and treatment to clients with complex mental health problems, including people with severe and challenging behaviors,
  • Conducting individual sessions with prisoners, on a weekly or monthly basis, based on the nature of the problem and the level of need,
  • Encouraging the client to talk about and explore their feelings and behaviors in relation to the issue at hand,
  • Running group sessions in some prisons,
  • Liaising with and working effectively alongside other professionals, teams and agencies involved in the service user’s care, ensuring the provision of coherent, timely, effective and safe interventions to the individual
  • Taking part in the regular departmental and organizational meetings,
  • Keeping up-to-date about developments in theory and research in the field,
  • Evaluating therapy outcomes and writing monthly, quantitative and qualitative, reports,
  • Working within professional guidelines and other overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.

– Plan and proceed with daily scheduled activities: education – social – psycho-social – recreational; inside refugees’ camps and when needed in detention centers.
– Enable the participation of the target population in the planned activities
– Keep attendance registers and monthly inventory for all activities.
– Coordinate with other partners for updated information and for activity follow up (meetings, common visits…)
